Yemen: Suicide Bomb Attack Kills 135 at Shiite Mosques

Sarah Lazare, staff writer

Suicide bomb attacks on two Shiite mosques in Yemen's capital on Friday killed at least 135 people and wounded 345, according to the TV station Al Masirah, which is run by Shiite Houthi rebels, who overtook the city in September.

A medical source told Reuters the death toll was at least 126. Hospitals treating the wounded are overwhelmed and appealing for blood donations.

I believe Saudi Arabia has been bombing the Houthi for at least the last 20 years. There have also been incursions by the Kingdom. There was a mass expulsion of Yemenis from Saudi Arabia after first Gulf War. (Also of Palestinians, both being replaced by 'safe' workers from South Asia).

I arrived in the Kingdom in 1990 when the expulsion of 800,000 Yemenis was underway. As was expulsion of Palestinians from Kuwait. Regarding expulsions of Palestinians from Saudi Arabia you are right insofar as many professionals remained but all of those directly associated with the PLO -many thousands - did not have their contracts renewed.

The overall trend in the Kingdom and Gulf States has been a process of "de-Arabisation" of imported labour and replacement with a serf class from South Asia that can present no Pan-Arab threat. Pan-Arabism, now a dead letter, was killed off by the West with its conniving ways. Pan-Islamism replaced it. A terrible strategic error by the liberal West in its insistence upon supporting feudal tyrannies.
